ongoing since 2010 | sound, goldleaf, megaphones | various dimensions and durations
The artist invites male singers with high-pitched voices to record interpretations of emergency sirens. The calls are broadcast from gilded megaphones in solo calls, dissonant duets and other compositions. The Return can be installed indoors or outdoors, and is often exhibited with a transcribed page from a letter to Jonsí Birgisson, inviting him to participate in the project.
The first iteration of The Return features the voice of Vienna Boys' Choir treble Beni Klocker singing the call of an air raid siren. It has been exhibited under a bridge in Maastricht, in a city square in Vienna, on a clocktower in Marl, Germany and as a doorbell in Toronto.
